YOUR PATH TO WELLNESS
Helping You Get Healthy
Chiropractic is a branch of health care that focuses on disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system, and the effects these disorders can have on general health. Rather than focusing solely on the area of complaint, Dr. Carapella will assess each patient to get to the root cause of pain, immobility, or dysfunction. Dr. Kara will spend time reviewing your entire health history, conducting orthopedic and neurologic exams, assessing movement, posture, muscle strength, tone, and range of motion before establishing a treatment plan and beginning chiropractic care.
Dr. Kara uses gentle, effective chiropractic adjustments to specific spinal and extra-spinal segments to restore joint motion, improve range of motion, and decrease pain and inflammation. Additionally, Dr. Kara incorporates soft tissue therapy including Active Release Technique to enhance treatment outcomes. Other modalities utilized during treatment may include:
Activator: A low force technique used to provide percussive stimulation to an affected area.
Flexion/Distraction: Mobilization of the thoraco-lumbar spine to relieve pressure on compressed discs and provide a gentle stretch to both the superficial and deep musculature of the low back.
SOT Blocking: A low force technique often utilized during pregnancy to restore biomechanical function of the pelvis.
Therapeutic Exercise: Dr. Kara's mission is to make every patient feel empowered to take an active role in their own health. She does through the prescription of specific at home exercises to strengthen, stretch, and restore proper function.
CONDITIONS WE COMMONLY TREAT
Chiropractic can have a positive effect on many conditions including, but not limited to:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
PREGNANCY & PEDIATRIC CARE
Care through all lifes stages
Dr. Kara realizes that different life stages require differing care, that's why she has taken the time to further her education on techniques considered most effective for pregnancy and pediatric care. For her pregnant patients Dr. Kara utilizes Webster Technique, a low force therapy to help keep mom and baby comfortable during the entire pregnancy. This technique is used to restore biomechanical function of the pelvis, thus limiting low back and pelvic pain as your belly grows.
A recent study by Viola Frymann demonstrated that 90% of infants experienced trauma from birth. This includes strain of the neck and cranial areas following the birthing process. Even the most natural birth can result in strain on the infant that goes undetected. Dr. Kara utilizes extremely low force techniques for pediatric adjustments (in fact, the amount of pressure used on an infant is about the same you would use to check for ripeness in a red tomato). Adjusting children helps to restore joint function and relieve interference on their developing nervous system.
